Fifth & Crowe in the field
Press & Photography
We independently document the people, places, public events, and everyday work that shapes Indiana County.
01
Identification, Not Permission
Fifth & Crowe press credentials identify us and people working on our behalf. They help the public, organizers, and officials understand who we are and why a camera may be present.
A credential does not create special access, override private-property or event rules, cross a safety perimeter, or replace consent where consent is legally required. We expect every credentialed contributor to identify themselves honestly, follow lawful instructions, and work without obstructing the people around them.
02
Independent Local Documentation
This is self-directed documentary and editorial work, not commissioned coverage unless we agree otherwise in writing. Photographs may become part of a Fifth & Crowe article, local news post, visual archive, print, or future public project.
Our aim is to make a useful record of life and work in the region while treating people and context with care. We use additional judgment around children, grief, medical situations, emergencies, and other moments where publishing an image may cause harm even when making the image is lawful.
03
Use A Fifth & Crowe Image
Selected photographs may be available for editorial use, commercial or promotional use, prints, exhibitions, or other agreed purposes. Availability depends on the image, the people or property shown, and the proposed use.
A written license will identify the image, user, purpose, media, duration, territory, exclusivity if any, credit, and price. Unless a signed agreement says otherwise, Fifth & Crowe keeps the copyright and the license does not imply that a photographed person or organization endorses the licensee.
04
The Rules Still Matter
Photography and video in genuinely public places are often lawful, but the answer can change with the location, subject, method, audio, and intended use. Private property, ticketed events, court facilities, schools, hospitals, state lands, museums, and other managed sites may impose their own rules.
Recording police officers performing their official duties in public is protected in this federal circuit, but that protection does not authorize interference. Pennsylvania law also creates serious risk around intentionally capturing a private conversation when the speakers reasonably expect it is not being intercepted. We do not secretly record private conversations.
Commercial advertising and endorsement uses require a separate review. A photograph that is appropriate in a news report or documentary archive is not automatically appropriate in an advertisement.
